The CBID Renewal, Downtown's Best Bargain

Oct 11, 2006

I'm sure many of you have seen one of the yellow shirted Safe Team members on bike patrol, or one of the Clean Team members picking up after weekend revelers or removing graffiti from one of our historical buildings. How about the parking shuttles or the lunchtime shuttle that runs on a circuit everyday for free, passing by downtown restaurants..

All of this is managed by the Nashville Downtown Partnership, which is funded by the CBID. If you are already a downtown property owner then you are already contributing to this worthy effort. The funding is a self assessed levee that is collected along with our property tax.

The current CBID will expire at the end of 2007 and because of the large amount of time and effort it takes to get it renewed, we are already starting. One of the key requirements for renewal is the submittal of petitions in support from downtown property owners. Petitions must be signed by at least 50% of downtown property owners, representing at least 2/3 of the total assessed value.

So please make sure you read your packet when it arrives and if you have any questions, contact me or anyone at the Downtown Partnership.

Then sign your petition and get it mailed back in. The more we get signed early, the easier it becomes to convince those who are waiting to get on board and support this critical program.
