I moved to Franklin Lakes in July 2008 from northern Virginia.  Our first winter here we had a $325.00 electric bill.  We have a Trane electric heat pump that is the original.  I spoke with some of neighbors about this.  Some have gas heat and had no problem.  Some have the same heat pump, but did not have a bill over $200.00.  Still seems high to me.  Another issue is, the heating and air company that installed the systems in thease homes were not very savvy in installing duct work.  I have a split bedroom plan and the 2 smaller bedrooms are on the same side of the house as the air return vent.  This is the opposite end of the house from where the heat pump is.  These room get very little heat and air.  I had lots of insulation added to the attic this summer, so I hope it helps.  Does everyone else have heating and air problems?
