Minutes from VHM Neighborhood Assn meeting of 17 Jan 2008
Meeting called to order at 6:45
I motioned to waive reading of minutes from last meeting. Roger 2nd, MC
Copies were passed to be read individually.
Guests present were, Rick Fedson DMPD neighborhood, Tim Fricke DMPD traffic, and Dennis O'Donnell DMPD detectives. They have been chosen by their Chief to be our representatives along with Rick. We spent a few minutes getting acquainted, and then allowed them to leave w/o having to stay for our business meeting.
Members present were, Roger and Patti Burdett, Rick Davis, and myself.
Rick paid $10 cash for his 08 renewal, and Roger only had $5 which he paid toward their 08 renewal. I motioned that the $15 go to our neighborhood's renewal in Des Moines Neighbors. Rick 2nd, MC. (I will forward DMN acknowledgement of cash payment as soon as I get it.)
Treasurer not in attendance thus report not given.
VP report that we did have 2 winners for the Christmas Lighting Contest
They were the Overton's of Timber Lane, and the Bascom's of Hickory Lane. Unfortunately due to an equipment breakdown, we don't have pictures of the winner's displays.
Welcome Committee report not given as no committee members were present.
Pres report waived in favor of proceeding directly to old/new business.
Old business: Non-Profit status, tabled due to last of attendance, and signatures for document.
New business: Park clean up-Decide when to do it at April meeting. It has been 2 yrs since park's last spruce up. Appears to be an every other yr project. Also, at Apr meeting Parks Dept will explain the prairie grass concept for the park center to the group for discussion.
SCRUB days: No word from City on dates as yet. We assume that we will be included w/Laurel Hill again this yr.
Clean Dean and Williams efforts: Will discuss continuing or not at April meeting, due to low turn outs at this yrs efforts.
Garage Sales: Patty will again coordinate. Some had asked if we could do two sales this yr. Address again in April.
Picnic: This yr it was held in conjunction with the Garage Sale. Short discussion followed about scheduling it on the traditional National Nite Out date, as other neighborhoods do. Address again in April.
Pres admitted to failing to get city calling to remind neighbors of meeting, and promised to do it for the April meeting. Announcement was in the Register and signs were out.
Elections: Due to attendance of only 4 neighbors, I moved and Roger 2nd that elections be postponed until April and those current officers remain in their positions until then. MC
Meeting adjourned at 7:45
