The Council is meeting on Monday July 17th at 7:30pm to vote on making a request to the County Auditor to certify the tax valuation of Valleyview for a levy of 5.0 Mills.

The new levy will be REPLACEMENT of a current 7.0 Mill Levy that expires after this year.

With the recent revaluation of the properties in Franklin County the new levy will keep your tax bills the same. There will not be an increase in the amount of taxes that you are paying on your property in Valleyview.

The Council was considering a 5.5 Mill levy, but that would have resulted in an increase for everyone. It would have been a small one, but during the final year while I was on Council we had agreed to seek a lower Millage that would lower people's property taxes. This new levy should do that. It will not be a significant decrease, but your property taxes for Valleyview should go down.

After the meeting on July 17th, the Council will be holding three more special meetings to reading the resolution for the tax levy to be placed on the ballot for this November.

Residents will have a chance to be heard now, and in the future when it comes time to vote on the levy.

The Village uses the funds from the levy to cover the operating costs of the government and police department. The money generated by the levy is vital for the Village to be able to provide services to the residents.

Attend the meetings and voice your opinions or concerns to the Village Council.
