The Chief and Public Safety Committee are working together to get video cameras for the Police Cruisers.

The Video Cameras would be used in reviewing the officers and in training. The Chief would be able to review the tapes of the officers at work and monitor their work ethic and how they interact with the public.

I believe that it is important for the Police Department to get these cameras to protect the officers and the public. If someone were to file a complaint against an officer there will be video and audio evidence which could be reviewed to confirm or deny the complaint.

This would be an important step forward for the Police Department. Again, the goal of the Public Safety Committee is to give the tools that the Officers need to do their jobs and to make sure that the public is served and that the Officers represent the Village well and that they are protected from false claims.

It also gives the Village Council another tool to use when evaluating an officer for employment and helps protect the Village. The Public Safety Committee will be continuing to work with the Police Chief to support the Police Department.
