At the last Village Council Meeting (December 5) the Council voted to accept the resignation of Councilwoman Rozena Davis. Ms. Davis cited the demands of entering nursing school and that she would not be able to devote the needed time to serve on Council.
Ms. Davis' term of office was through December 31, 2007. With Ms. Davis' resignation and only three people running for the four seats on Council with terms beginning January 1st, 2006 the Council finds itself with only four sitting members on Council: Ron Hays, Marzia Helton, John Shaw and Ann Marks.
With only four members the Council cannot pass waive readings of legislation as 5 votes are needed to waive readings.
The Council is accepting resumes and letters of interests from residents who would be interested in filling the unexpired term of Ms. Davis' seat and/or the full term for the seat that begins January 1st.
The Council will be meeting December 27th to vote to fill the seat vacated by Ms. Davis. A decisions may also be made to fill the seat for the term beginning January 1st, but the final vote for that cannot happen until the first meeting of the year which is scheduled for January 9th. Residents interested in serving on Council are encouraged to send a resume or a letter of interest to the Village Hall. Deadline is December 26th, 2005.
