Ven-Mar NA Meeting on June 3, 2003

The theme of the meeting was ?“Update on Westside Mass Transit?”. Randall DeLave chaired the meeting.

Robin Voris reported on the upcoming start of the CERT training course. Chris Williams reported on GRVNC activities and Amanda Seward on MVCC activities.

After that we welcomed a distinguished panel of speakers, chaired by Ken Alpern, long time transportation activist, who was recently elected to the Board of the new Mar Vista Community Council.

The members of the panel were
?· Darrell Clarke (Friends4Expo, Lincoln Corridor Task Force Citizen Advisory Committee, Sierra Club)
?· Daniel Walker (Friends4Expo, Friends of the Green Line, Sierra Club)
?· Roger Rudick (Friends4Expo, Friends of the Green Line, The Transit Coalition).

They addressed questions such as
?· Will we ever get a Lincoln Blvd. Light Rail Line from Santa Monica to LAX?
?· Will Mayor Hahn?’s proposal for a remote LAX terminal lead to a true Green Line connection to LAX?
?· How soon can we get the Exposition Light Rail Line to connect the Westside with Downtown L.A.?
?· What is the overlooked rail line that could serve as a LAX/Downtown Union Station Express?
The panel fielded many questions from the audience.


Turn-out was low, with only about 20 in the audience.
