Dear Venetia,
You can?’t get away from feng shui today! I?’ve got a compass, but don?’t have a clue. Would you enlighten me, dear wise one, which direction signifies what? Thanks for any pointers. I can?’t afford a New Age workshop in Kathmandu!
Signed,
Seville Serenity Seeker
Dear Seeker,
If only we could have global positioning systems for our homes, right? Oh, well, till then ?… I rely on one of those itty-bitty books you can hide in the palm of your hand. Nothing like reducing ancient theory to less than an ounce of paper, right? Look, darling, we?’re all very, very busy these days, aren?’t we?
Anyway, in feng shui, each direction is associated with a certain kind of luck: Here?’s what I found:
South ?– recognition and fame
Southwest ?– marriage prospects and marital happiness
West ?– luck with children
Northwest ?– presence of helpful people or mentors
North ?– career prospects
Northeast ?– education
East ?– family relationships and health
Southeast ?– wealth and prosperity
(Always calculate the direction in which you should face by standing in the middle of the room and looking outward.)
Now, mind you, I?’m no expert (surprise!). So for true serenity, I?’d suggest you seek the counsel of a feng shui master. Then send the master to me!
Good luck, darling!
Venetia
