Noise Pollution

Posted in: Sharpstown
I am absolutely desperate to find a solution to the noise pollution I am expereincing from two new neighbors who have moved in. I have tried speaking with them and it seems that they are agreeable untill the next time they feel like blasting their music. This is a family neighborhood with children and retirees and it seems unnacceptable that this behavior would continue. I can't live like this. Is anyone familiar with the laws or ordinances???...has anyone had success in overcoming this??? My husband grew up here and I feel like I have to fight for the state of this neighborhood. Up untill about 4 months ago we actually liked living here. Our choices are to fight or leave. And I'm not ready to throw in the towel. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

We had the same problem.  Called the constable three times and it finally stopped.
Good luck!

There is a city of houston ordinance on noise pollution.  If you are in Houston city limit, call HPD while the noise is occuring.  If they come out fast enough they maybe able to hear it and would probably take some kind of action, or they would explain to you what is legal and what is illegal.

Keep the name of the responding officer (or the local store front officer's contact number).  I'm sure the noise would come back.

By the way, be careful what kind of people you are dealing with.  If there is a whole gang inside the house you may as well give up.  Not worth fighting over some noises and get your house or your property destroyed.

Hey! What's the score? How did it turn out? Are you still at the location you were? Did the noisy folks wake up and do the right thing?

Yes, I know there are ordinances against noisy stuff in residential areas. Did you apply that ordinance? Are you free of the ULF (Ultra Low Frequency) sound that is, by the way, bad for you.
