COUNCIL & MAYOR ACCEPT EXCESSIVE PAYMENTS

After continued denial from council members stating they were not getting paid because of the current Village financial crisis the Village records state differently. The Council member who has spoken out the most about misspending accepted the most money from taxpayers in the year 2002. IRENE WHITE with $1,100 in payments for regular, special and committee meeting, most of which were not necessary. And close behind was Bob Graves at $1,000

It is fortunate for the Village that Irene White did not continue to collect all year long at her pace she was because she had collected $800 in the first half of the year. If she had continued on her record setting pace she would have had over $1,600.

At the beginning of the year the council appropriated $4,400 for SIX Council members at $50 a meeting. Irene collected a quarter of it herself. All of the council collected as much money as they could and as fast they could. Only after they saw the bank account did they begin slowing down on what they collected. Here are the totals for everyone that has been on council and their length of service.

If all of the council members had only accepted $50 per month the total would have only been $3,600. What did the Village get for the additional $1,400? By depleting the bank account.
