Break In At Village Hall, Again

May 28, 2002

Over the weekend of April 19-21 there was a break in at the Village Hall. An investigation by the Franklin County Sheriff's Department has been initiated to look in to the matter. The files of the police department were broken into during the break in. The police files are kept in a locked file cabinent in the Village Hall and it was forced open. There was no forced entry into the Village Hall. Whomever broke in had one of the new keys. The locks in the Village Hall had only been changed the weekend before.

During the month of May the personnel files of the Police Officers was also broken into. Those files are kept in a different locked cabinent in the Village Hall. Again no forced entry was found to the Village Hall, but the cabinent where the personnel files were kept had been forced open.

Both of these incidents have taken place since the locks were changed by order of Mayor Graves. Only those people that have received a new key would have been able to access the building. Those keys have been given to the Mayor, Councilmembers, the Police Officers, Fiscal Officer, and Mayor's Court Clerk.

This aricle will be up dated as more is learned. If you have any information on the break in please contact Chief Consolo at the Village Hall at (614)279-5630.
