The Polk County Historical Society voted to disband in December of 2006.  Since that time there have been NO elections, meetings, newsletters or dues paid.  There were some funds left in the treasury and the group voted that the board should first give some money to a couple of projects and the rest would be divided between existing historical groups in Polk County during 2007.  There has been no communication between the board and the former members of the PCHS since early 2007.  The members were to be informed how the money was distributed during 2007.  The board chose not to do what the members voted for them to do.  Under the auspices of there being a currently active Polk County Historical Society they came up with an art project and have worked to find other sources of money for the art project.  This is not even an historical project.  The Polk County Historical Society has never agreed to support this art project and the name PCHS should not be attached to it.
