The drought and water supply issues require rethinking the way we water and garden. Yard Smart is your door to water conservation. Get tips from three experts in the gardening field. Gayle Manning, horticulture educator for the City of Fort Worth Parks and Community Services will present Fire Ant Control. She will give the answers and steps to control fire ants.
Dotty Woodson, county horticulture agent with the Texas Cooperative Extension Service, will discuss Beat the Drought with Native and Adaptive Plants. She?’ll have a storm of ideas to beat the drought by selecting and grouping low-water-demanding plants in your garden. Find out how efficient watering, use of mulch and appropriate maintenance will save you time, money, and water.
Steve Chaney, county horticulture agent with the Texas Cooperative Extension Service will present ?“Perennials?”. Get ideas on how to create exciting color harmonies and contrasts with early perennials by selecting bulbs of various heights, shapes, colors and blooming periods.
Each session concludes with a question and answer period. Presenters and other city departments will have display tables where they will distribute information and be available to answer questions.
