DENVER RECYCLES & DENVER URBAN GARDENS

Offer Free Compost Classes

If this summer's record-breaking temperatures have your plants looking weary, it's time to recharge them with compost! Compost-enriched soil can hold 100% of its weight in water, slowly releases nutrients to your plants, and decreases your water and fertilizer bills.
Denver Urban Gardens and Denver Recycles are offering free, hands-on backyard composting classes to teach you to turn yard and kitchen waste into black gold for your garden.
Classes are held at the Denver Backyard Composting Demonstration Site at Gove Community Garden at 13th Ave. and Colorado Blvd. Classes run through October 2000. For date and time call 303 640.1678.
The complete year 2000 Schedule is posted at www.denvergov.org/Denverrecycles

GARDEN CLUB

Did you know that the City and County of Denver does not maintain flowerbeds in all neighborhood parks. The perennial bed and spring bulb display in Chaffee Park 44th and Tejon St. have been cooperative works of the Sunnyside Garden Club and the Sloan Lake Park District. The SUNI Garden Club has planted 3,500 bulbs in the garden with the help of the fifth grader students of Smedley Elementary School. The Club is open to gardeners from all of Northwest Denver. Want to meet like-minded folks? Learn more about gardening? Have fun? Do something worthwhile that every body in the neighborhood can smile about?
To find out about the next Club's event call 303 477.9069
