Washington Department of Ecology/BPA To Visit

Oct 24, 2000

Janet Rhodes and Dee Williams with the Department of Ecology will attend the October meeting of the Neighborhood Association. They appreciate the opportunity to talk with residents about Bonneville Power Administration's (BPA) request for a permit to store hazardous waste at the Ross Complex. A draft permit will be available for public comment soon (hopefully October 11). If finalized, the permit will allow BPA to continue to store waste produced from cleaning and maintaining equipment and property. An example is dirty solvent from cleaning painting equipment.

Ecology will let you know about BPA's storage of hazardous waste and the draft permit. We'll also explain how you can learn more or make comments. BPA will also be attending the meeting. Both Ecology and BPA will answer questions and listen to your concerns. Since Ecology will accept comments on the draft
permit until late November, this meeting helps us get the news out early, so people will have plenty of time to learn what BPA proposes and what's in the draft permit, then to comment if they wish.
