Light up your Neighborhood!
The City of Mesa and the Salt River Project offer a Dusk to Dawn Lighting Program. The purpose of the program is to provide outdoor lighting from dusk until dawn for privately owned property within Mesa. Under the
City program the City of Mesa will install, own, operate and maintain the complete lighting installation. The customer signs a contract with the City and is billed monthly. For additional information call (480) 644-2154.
Under the SRP Program, SRP will install, own, operate and maintain the complete lighting installation (ex. lighting up the alley behind your home).
The customer signs a contract with a flat monthly fee. For more information call (602) 236-8888, press 0.
Motion Lights

The best deterrent to criminal activity is to install motion detector lights on your private property. These lights flash on when any motion is detected. They can be purchased and installed inexpensively. Check with local retailers who carry home improvement products for more information.
Leaving your front and backyard lights on all night helps protect your neighborhood and your own property. A well-lit yard will enable you to welcome guests, identify strangers and deter crime. The cost of a light bulb is far less than the cost of a break-in or invasion of your home.

Our last delivery date for this year is October 30th. As soon as I receive the new one for 2006 I will get it in the newsletter.
Please remember your times or make arrangements if you won?’t be home, so we don?’t have problems like last time.
Participate in On-going Developments

About ?½ billion dollars in mostly private money is being spent in West Mesa on projects that will help bring the area back up to the kind of place it was years ago. Many of you who have lived here a long time will remember the excitement that was generated when Motorola, Tri-city, and other developments were built.
This ?½ billion dollars does not include the West Main Street project. We should be informed soon when the next West Main Street project meeting is. Remember to participate! This project can be a wonderful improvement to our neighborhood, or not, depending on your participation. Either way, this project will greatly affect you (and your property values). When the time comes, be a participant in the project to make sure it affects you in a positive way.
What?’s in a Name?

Some of you have asked about when we are going to change the name of our neighborhood.
Our newsletter was named "Pepper Place Post" by Bob Hanks while we were still registered with the city as West Mesa Center. By the way, Bob, we love the name. However, the neighborhood organization has grown past Pepper Place to include other streets, and we have outgrown the name.
We have had several suggestions for a new name. One suggestion was something like West Mesa Menagerie which is kind of cute and funny.
On the other hand, we desire to lift up our neighborhood to the level it was many years ago, and a good name can suggest a more upscale feel. Here is a list of suggestions so far. Maybe you can come up with your own upscale name. We will vote on another name sometime soon:
Cottonwood Lane Cottages (for those of us that remember the large, shady Cottonwood trees that used to line the irrigation ditches in our neighborhood), Sycamore Sunset Homes, Cottonwood Cove, Sycamore Villages, Mesa Verde Estates (named after the development across from Mesa Madrid town homes), Sunset Homes (Pepper Place was once called Sunset Way), Sunset View Homes, Sycamore Cottages, Riverside Homes (to link with the new Riverside commercial development on Dobson and the 202), Pepper Place Park, Sycamore Lane Homes, Helaman View (one of our neighborhood subdivisions is Helaman Court), West View Sunset Homes, Standage Farms Neighborhood, Sycamore Acres, Cottonwood Cottages, and Cottonwood Acres.

Pay Linked to Education

Greater Education means you will earn more per hour.

A significant advantage of our neighborhood is that it is in close proximity to educational facilities. Westwood High School has a Baccalaureate program and the East Valley Institute of Technology is our neighbor. ASU is only three miles away and Mesa Community College is only 2?½ miles away.
