The City of Surprise held its first meeting of the Redistricting Committee Wednesday night, November 7, 2001.

The City of Surprise must redraw its district map every 10 years based on the decennial census. These districts represent the City Council districts.

The committee is responsible for finalizing a new district map for the City and submitting it to the United States Department of Justice for final approval.

Though the committee will be submitting the final plan to the Justice Department, the process of drawing-up the districts is open to all residents who live in the City of Surprise. Any resident interested in participating can contact the City Clerk, Sherry Ann Aguilar at (623) 583-1098.
