Adding a Patio Cover

What do I need to do for permission to build a patio cover? Do I need a permit?
Please emailany info back to me. Also, if anyone has done this in the past, I could use some information on how they did it, what model of home they have. I am in Horizons.

Thanks for the inquiry....written architectual approval is required for an improvement to your home for anything visible to the neighboring properties. Please refer to the CC&R section of the Community Pages on the home page of this site for further guidance.

If you don't have a blank architectual request form, you can request one from Patty Garman at City Property Management. Her email address is in the Neighborhood Contact section on the home page, as well as district representative information.

Although I've not installed a patio cover myself, I'll give you a little guidance. It must match the color of the house. If you could include as much information as possible, including well-drawn and clear dimensions and other details, it will make it easier for the board to get a quick decision back to you with no further questions.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. As for needing a permit, I'm not sure what the city might require, but I haven't heard of any of my neighbor's requesting a permit.
