October 2006

The Board met Tuesday, October 10th and there were several new people who came to volunteer to be part of the Board. Also someone has volunteered to take over writing the newsletter. It was very encouraging for the Board to have new people volunteer!

?· We have a new contact for Sentry Management

Kerri Van Pelt, LCAM
Sentry Management Inc.
2980Hartley Road West, Suite 4
Jacksonville, FL 32257
Office phone: 904-880-4055 Fax: 904-880-3550

Please contact Kerri for ?“everyday stuff?” such as approvals for tree removal, changing the color of your home, or having fence or structure put on your property.

The Board was not pleased with Dave and requested a different contact person who will be Kerri Van Pelt. Sentry did send out a number of letters to homeowners for various violations. If you got a letter, please take action to correct the violation immediately.

?· Committees are being formed ?– NO MEETINGS REQUIRED!

The Board wants to form committees for architectural review (changing the paint color of your home), tree removal, or putting up a fence. So, if you are a walker or mom strolling with a child, if you would be able to do a ?“walk around?” at the pool once a week to make sure the pool deck has been cleared of leaves and the bathrooms were cleaned that would be a huge help! Also, if there is someone who could check on the lawn service, that would be great. You wouldn?’t even need to have any interaction with the lawn service, just make sure they are doing what they are supposed to do. Also, we could use homeowners to approve paint changes and tree removal. No meetings required to be on a committee! Just let Shelly know that you will do something. Thanks.

?· Parking on the street and the BIG yellow school buses

The Board has continually asked that you don?’t park on the street. We ask that everyone please respect this request. Also, there are about four BIG yellow school buses that drop off children at their driveways. These are children with a disability. The buses are having trouble getting down the street or turning in the cul-de-sac because of a car parked in the street. The drivers have been instructed to take down the tag number of the car and it will be turned over to JSO. You will get a ticket. Also, please remember that you need to follow the same rules for stopping for school buses whether it is a regular school bus or a handicapped accessible school bus at a driveway.

?· Housekeeping

For those homes which back up to the Walden Wood owned fence along Losco Road or Thoreau Way, please remove all the vines or weeds on the fence. Thank you.

The city of Jacksonville asks that you separately place your garbage, recycling, or yard waste curbside no later than 6:00 a.m. on your scheduled collection day. Thursday is our scheduled day for garbage and recycling collection and Friday for yard waste. Waste should not be placed curbside earlier than 5:00 p.m. on the day before collection day.

Also, please clean up after your dog!!!

?· Block Captains

It was suggested that the Block Captains distribute the newsletter. That gives them a chance to talk with neighbors on their block and also update information about who is living in a home. If you have an e-mail address, please give it to your Block Captain if you would like to receive information about what is going on in the neighborhood by e-mail. A neighborhood directory is in progress.
