How has Maywood become so selfis

Posted in: Maywood - Broadview
As a long time media gadfly and observer of Maywood / social ways and norms. Starting in the early 1950's.

I was a recipient of Maywood's everyday goings on when Maywood was considered one of the premier places for African Americans in the country. Not, high class by any means, but very nice and very livable. For the most part things started to change around the mid-60's.

1968 was a very pivitol year. The country was taking sides on the Chicago 8 trial and Dr.King left us, much to early. Then in late 1969 Fred Hampton became an immortal symbol of grassroots community resistence to the typical unfair politics that still infest where we live.

But, to my way of thinking, in the years since the early 1970's in Maywood, as well as most of the country. 90% of the black leadership that has served us, has actually helped to lead us backward in progress. They have really sold , black people out. And they have been assisted for the most part by other blacks, for the benjamins!!!!

Step up, my brothers & sisters to deny it! Continue the lie (the world is watching us), that we treat each other as brothers and sisters in the struggle. There are so many, little camps of'know it all folks, that we are suffocating from all this modern expertise'. All kinds of resources that are available and we still lanquish at the bottom of America's well.

It's really not, the money with us. The problem's are a lack of straight honesty and integrity. And until we admit, that and then seek to work on changing it, we're just playing with ourselves.
