Andrea Suhaka
Chair, Walnut Hills Civic Association
The Walnut Hills Civic Association had an excellent Special Meeting on 9 October. We had 9 of our 10 board directors and 23 member residents present. Our quorum for action is 15, so I want to give special thanks to those residents who attended the meeting.
The purpose of our special meeting was to amend the By-Laws of the Walnut Hills Civic Association. The main areas we amended were: deleting honorary membership, changing the make-up of our Board of Directors to allow more flexibility, changing our meeting frequency to allow more flexibility, and solidifying our current practice of allowing the General Membership Meeting to fall in ?“the first quarter of the calendar year.?”
We still have work to do on how to allow both an owner of property in Walnut Hills and the resident (owner or renter) to be members and to be able to vote. We will bring the new amendment(s) to a vote at the Annual Meeting. Watch this newspaper for a printing of the changes.
The upcoming schedule of Walnut Hills Civic Association sponsored activities for the year is always listed on page 2.
Keep your eye on ww.walnuthillscolorado.org and the Walnut Hills Newsletter for more current information and changes to the calendar.
Currently fewer than half of the residents of Walnut Hills are paid members of the civic association. I find this troubling as many residents choose to take part in our sponsored activities that haven?’t paid their annual $15 dues.
Your dues make these events possible! Every single activity takes an expenditure of association money. I am urging all of you who are not yet paid members, to please consider paying your dues. The amount of $15 is very minimal for a year full of fun neighborhood activities.
The time will come soon when we are not able to sponsor all of the events many of you have come to expect. Dumpster Days alone costs over $3,000, that?’s over 200 paid memberships!
You can find a membership form online at our website: www.walnuthillscolorado.org.
We are dedicated to making this neighborhood the best place to live in Colorado and we need your help!
