$11,000 in Scholarships Available for Walnut Hills Students

At a recent meeting of the Walnut Hills Scholarship Committee, it was decided? that due to the current level of support, four $2,500 scholarships along with one $1,000 vocational grant? will be awarded? in 2009.
The scholarships will be awarded to high school graduates who live in Walnut Hills, graduate in 2009 and plan to attend college in 2009.? The Graham? Vocational Grant is available to those who have graduated? or received a GED since 2006, live in Walnut Hills and? plan to attend an accredited vocational, trade, technical school or similar program at a community college in 2009.? 
It is through the efforts and contributions of Walnut Hills residents that these scholarships are available. This past year, residents contributed $6466 to the scholarship fund. This is an increase in the amount from any previous year. The decision not to send out thank you letters added another $300 to the fund. Contributors were listed in the October-November issue of this newsletter.
In addition to the generous contributions of the residents, the Walnut Hills Civic Association and the Walnut Hills Newsletter each contributed $1,500.
Applications for the Walnut Hills Scholarships and the Graham Vocational Grant will be available in the Post Grad Center at Cherry Creek High School or may be picked up from:

The deadline for
all applications is Wednesday,
March 18, 2009.

The Walnut Hills Scholarship program was started in 1972 through the efforts of Diane Graham and the Walnut Hills Newsletter and has since awarded scholarships to 99? residents for a total of over $103,000.
