The Department of Environmental Management usually schedules leaves and brush collection at residences in both Spring and Fall (late March - early May and late November - mid December. Visit the web links below to confirm the exact date for your area.
Here are the rules:
Sacks and bundles should be curbside by 7 a.m. on the scheduled day of collection.
If sacks and bundles are not picked up on the scheduled day of collection, residents must call the Action Center within 24 hours to report the missed collection. The Action Center can be reached by dialing 311 or (816) 513-1313.
No more than 20 sacks and/or bundles per household.
Sacks and bundles must not weigh more than 40 pounds each.
Use only paper lawn debris sacks. No plastic bags.
If you seal sacks, use masking tape only; do not use plastic or duct tape.
No grass clippings.
No trash.
All branches must be bundled. Branches must not be more than 3 inches in
diameter and not more than 4 feet long.
Bundles of branches must not be more than 2 feet in diameter and not more
than 4 feet long.
Use twine or jute rope to tie bundles; do not use wire or plastic tape.
If wet weather is forecast, cover sacks/bundles with clear plastic.

Drop-off sites are also usually available from Spring through Fall at 4707 Deramus Ave., and Interstate 470 and Raytown Road. Check web site link below for dates and hours.
Drop-off sites for leaves and brush are closed January 15 thru March 15.
