Warr Acres Addition Edition Issue 2____ 1 September 2008AD
Our meeting on Thursday, August 28 was a great success! Again we had over 40 attend the meeting at City Hall, including Ward 2 Councilwoman Nancy Olson, Mayor Tardibono, and Police Chief Roger Patty. Our city officials graciously attended so that they could address any questions we had. Our Police Chief reported that thanks to our city sales tax increase, we now have a full time Code Enforcement Officer who can address appearance and safety issues within our city, as well as more police officers on patrol than we used to have. Sometime in the near future, the police and fire department may be able to host a Citizens Academy if there is enough interest.
We voted to approve the Association Bylaws as submitted. We also had volunteer signups for Block Captains, the Newsletter, Block Party, Neighborhood Watch Patrol, Website- http://www.neighborhoodlink.com/wa/waa, and took names of those interested in running for elected office in our next meeting. We still need more volunteers, especially for Block Captains. If you are interested in running for President, Vice President, Secretary or Treasurer, be sure and attend the next meeting on September 18! We will be electing the officers in that meeting-more details below. We also voted and approved the time and date for our first Block Party, more details below.

Next Meeting Thursday, September 18
The Association will meet in the Warr Acres Community Center on the corner of NW 42nd and Ann Arbor from 7-8pm. We will accept nominations for President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. If you are interested in running for office, don?’t be shy! Put down your name. Neighborhood Alliance will train all of our elected officials! You needn?’t fear that you won?’t know how to do your job well-you will be equipped for success.
Volunteer signup is still open for the Block Party, Newsletter, Website, and Block Captains. We will have short meeting times for each of these after the elections. We will have to settle the details for the Block Party during this meeting.
