Aug 30, 2003

2004 "Denver Digs Trees" Tree Distribution
The Park People, through its ?“Denver Digs Trees?” program, will be distributing free or low-cost trees to Denver residents for planting along the public right of way next spring. ?“Denver Digs Trees?” day is scheduled for Saturday, April 17, 2004. Tree request forms will be mailed this fall. A yard tree sale will be held in conjunction with tree distribution day for those wishing to plant trees on private property. Public trees are available only to residents of the City & County of Denver. ?“The past year has been tough on our urban forest,?” said Patrick Hayes, Executive Director. ?“We?’ve heard from countless citizens who are anxious to replace trees that were lost to either last year?’s drought or this spring?’s blizzard. We?’re especially excited to see such high demand for trees, and we?’re anxious to help replenish our urban canopy next spring.?” ?“We?’ve tried to be especially thoughtful about what varieties of trees we offer next spring, in hopes replenishing the urban forest with trees that have the best chance of survival,?” Hayes said. Denver residents wishing to add their name to the mailing list for tree request forms this fall should call The Park People?’s office at 303-722-6262, or send an email to info@theparkpeople.org.
