Recycling Telephone Books: Safeway is no longer a drop-off site for telephone book recycling. To locate a drop-off site in you area contact Recycle America at 303/296-1313 or 303/914-1420, or Tri-R Recycling at 303/399-6351. For City of Denver residents, you can drop phone books in the alley collection bins located behind the City and County Building at 200 W. 14th Street.
Denver Solid Waste Management: All residents should have received the new, and informative ?“WasteWise?” mailing in January. This colorful brochure details the trash collection and recycling procedures and schedule for the city. If you haven?’t participated in the recycling program before, or if you are new to the neighborhood, sign up by calling Denver Recycles at 720/865-6805 between 7:30 AM and 4 PM Monday through Friday, or go on-line at www.DenverGov.org/DenverRecycles and sign up there. You will simply need to provide your name, address and telephone number. The Large Item Pick-Up (LIP) schedule was also printed in the brochure. We always remind you of the upcoming LIP date in this newsletter?’s ?“Events and Notices?” column. Remember to put your large items out ONLY during the designated week. Do not lean items against or place them inside the dumpsters as it prevents the sanitation trucks from lifting and emptying the dumpsters. And parent of young children, you especially want your home to be free of hazardous chemicals (including leftover paints, solvents, pesticides, and household cleaners). Denver residents can call 1-800-449-7587 for more information on how to arrange for a Household Hazardous Waste pick-up.
