Keybank La Piazza Dell?’Arte: Saturday, June 18, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, June 19, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Larimer Square will become a breathtaking street museum of colorful chalk paintings during the third annual KeyBank La Piazza dell?’Arte (?“the square of art?”). Over the course of two days, this international award-winning festival will feature more than 200 local professional, student and amateur artists who will take to the pavement armed with vivid pastel chalks and spend hours on their hands and knees recreating major masterpieces. By the end of the event, the expanse of asphalt along Larimer Square will be a dynamic outdoor gallery with subjects ranging from traditional master-style works to modern images and surreal chalk paintings. Event attendees will be captivated as they watch the pieces come to life while interacting with the artists. Italian music, food, and beverage will compliment the visual feast. Avid street painters will tell you that it is performance art where the process of creating the work is more important than the finished product. The festival will include a Kids?’ Corner where children and their parents can take part in the festival for a minimum donation and let their imaginations soar as they create their own mini-masterpieces in 2?’ x 2?’ squares.
