In an effort to analyze the "pop top" syndrome affecting East Washington Park, Historic Denver Inc. applied for a mini-grant from the Colorado State Historical Fund to conduct a structural study of the neighborhood. The Colorado Historical Society awarded Historic Denver Inc. $10,000 to determine the historic significance of East Washington Park's businesses, homes and churches. These funds will be used to hire a Denver-based research firm to conduct a six-month study. The results of this study will help determine whether or not East Wash Park is worthy of designation as an historic district.
Historic Denver Inc. will host a neighborhood meeting where you can learn more about this structural study and how to research the history of your own home. The meeting will be held Wed., April 5 at 7PM at the Washington Park United Methodist Church, 1955 East Arizona Ave., in the Fellowship Hall. Call Kathleen Brooker at 303/296-9887 for more info.
