LAST WPENA MEETING OF THE YEAR --BOARD ELECTIONS WILL BE HELD It has been a busy year for your Board. We have represented you on numerous committees and attended many meetings concerning a variety of important neighborhood, city, and regional issues. The work we have done has been related to T-REX (especially noise mitigation), to the Land Use and Transportation Advisory Committee (LUTAC), to the Denver Parks and Recreation ?“Game Plan?”, to Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation, and to the ?“Neighborhood Plan?”, to name a few. In addition to hosting general neighborhood meetings in September and January, we hosted the "Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation (INC) Debate on November 2001 Election Issues" on October 13th, 2001. We have had a very active Zoning Committee whose members have heard neighbor?’s appeals to denials of variance requests and helped them prepare for variance appeal hearings and/or to brainstorm on modifications that would be more in keeping with current bulk plane and set-back regulations. We have posted updates, notices, and newsletters to "www.neighborhoodlink.com/denver/
washpark?”. We have produced and distributed 5 newsletters (mailing it to our dues paying members), adopted our revised bylaws and articles of incorporation, contributed to the Steele Elementary School Dictionary Drive, established an WPENA archive at the Denver Public Library, and provided resources to help you maintain and/or remodel your homes. We have only managed to do all of this with the volunteer effort of many committed individuals. We hope you will consider volunteering your time to serve on the WPE Board and/or to volunteer on one of our committees. Working together we can continue to preserve and improve the character and livability of the Washington Park East neighborhood.
Our next neighborhood meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 15th,
at the United Methodist Church at 1955 E. Arizona Street in the South Parlor (go upstairs and to your right). We will be electing and/or re-electing WPE Board Members at this meeting. Please come and vote!
