Residents of southeast Denver may participate in a free and voluntary auto theft prevention program sponsored by the Department of Justice and the Denver Police Department. Vehicle owners sign an agreement stating that their vehicle is not normally driven between the hours of 1:00 AM and 5:00 AM. The registered owners of the vehicle display two "Watch Your Car" decals on their vehicles; one on the front windshield and one on the rear window. If a law enforcement officer sees the vehicle being driven between these hours, the officer has the owner's permission to stop the vehicle to determine if the vehicle has been stolen. Detective Mike Gargaro and Technician Mike Simpson of the District Three police substation will be conducting the "Watch Your Car Program" at the Windsor Gardens Community Center, 595 S. Clinton Street in Denver on October 23, 2000 from 10AM to 2 PM. Help the police help you avoid becoming a victim of car theft.
