The meeting opened at 7:45 with prayer by Barbara. The minutes were approved as written.
Lt. Fleming report:
v 1 Burglary - NW 8th CT
v 1 Grand Theft
v 2 Bicycle Thefts
v 5 Tickets on NW 7th ST and NW 29th TERR
We also discussed turnarounds on the two streets that go through our neighborhood.
Representative Chris Smith was not able to attend our meeting tonight due to an emergency meeting in Tallahassee.
Annexation update:
Next meeting is on July 13, 2004 in Lauderdale Lakes. There was a meeting held on June 21, 2004 in Lauderdale Lakes and there was a proposal to put on the ballot in 2004 to annex all of central Broward unincorporated areas.
Enhancement Board Update:
The board changed their meetings to the first Thursday of every month. The ordinance is now approved. BSO does not have a copy of it yet, so they are not able to enforce it. There will be no construction on Sundays and Saturdays hours for construction are 8:00AM until 7:00PM.
Mr. Franklin went through surgery and is now recovering. Our thoughts and prayers are with him.
There was a meeting on redevelopment for NW 27th AVE.
CERT Program:
Put on by the city of Fort Lauderdale. The city is training people in each neighborhood in cases of an emergency. They are teaching simple fire rescues. The first meeting is September first. You will be certified and get a certificate.
Chris Smith?’s aide Marna Clark was in attendance and advised us all our bills related to annexation had been vetoed. We have not submitted ours yet.
We let the residents know we are starting a Sunshine Committee to help our sick and shut ins. Ivett explained what kind of help we can offer them. Valerie Taylor agreed to work on the committee with us.
