Eighteen arrest, One hundred five traffic citations, seventy-six watch cards, and eight-day cards. Eugene questioned a car parked behind Kelly?’s Sod. Deputy Murphy said he had spoke to the dispatcher at the bus company. Yvonne and Mrs. Royal said the bus is still coming into the neighborhood.

Ivette Spence Brown asked why All Service trunks are in the neighborhood at 5:30 and 6:30 in the morning. Deputy Murphy said he would call them. A home on 6th Court has been cited by Code and Zoning, the electric and water has be turned off.

Betty Coppet said that she sees BSO out making arrests a lot in the area. Lt. Fleming said crime is down because they are out making arrests. Deputy Murphy encouraged people to call him if they see a crime, his number is 954 321-4800.

Jim said this is his last meeting. He said it has been great meeting our residents and working in our community. Ben Chen said thanks for our patience while construction work was done. He thanked the Association and residence for working with them. Patricia Henry thanked everyone for his or her cooperation. She is now working with Saint George and Parkway. Mr Hughes said that his light is still not fixed. Ivette said her mother?’s gate is not completed. Patricia said she thought the gate was repaired. She sent out a letter and had no response. She said she would go out on January 10, 2003 to check on the gate. Jim will speak to Linda Laskin about the stop signs for all intersections.

Pat Sabia said eight hundred and fifty violations were written in Central Broward. One hundred and twelve were written in Washington Park. This included cars that were towed. One of the vacant lots on Seventh Street may be cited for a violation. Jim is going to call Pat about the problem. Pat said they would be working on getting the wall painted south of Sixth Street.

Mr Jerry Wright made a motion to submit for the grant for a building design for Lafayette Hart Park. Betty Coppet seconded the motion. It was voted on with all in favor of the motion. Lafayette Hart Park Homeowners Association wants to abolish the Neighborhood Enhancement and Preservation Plan. We need to hold an election in Washington Park for the residents to vote on who they want to represent our neighborhood. We would need to send a letter to the Supervisor of elections. Mrs. Beulah Wright made a motion to request an election to choose which Association would represent our neighborhood. Mrs. Glee seconded the motion. It was voted on with all in favor of the motion.

Eugene asked who received a letter from the City of Lauderdale Lakes? He said this is standard procedure. Eugene said that Chris Smith is not sponsoring the bill for the City of Fort Lauderdale to annex us. Nova is doing a study of the taxes assessed in Central Broward. This would be an up to date study of the taxes paid. Eugene read a letter dated December 17, 2002 from Mandy Dawson?’s office about annexation. The revenue from the eight neighborhoods left in Central County is about eight million dollars. Both Lauderdale Lakes and Fort Lauderdale want millions more a year to annex us into their City. One resident said if the City of Fort Lauderdale annexes us they want to tax us out of our homes because this is prime land. It is close to I95, the turnpike and downtown.

Toni Marshall introduced herself; she will be covering our meetings for the Sun Sentinel.

Culpepper said that people are riding 1-ton vehicles and motorcycles over the bridge. We need to get a sign and post on the bridge. We may need a turn style so people will walk over the bridge. Yvonne said we need an exercise class at the park. Culpepper said we could have the class if we can get an instructor.

Meeting adjourned at 9:30PM
