Washington Park Neighborhood Preservation and Enhancement Dist.

Washington Park Neighborhood Preservation & Enhancement Meeting

Jul 23, 2006

June 1, 2006

Our meeting opened at 7:15pm with prayer by Julia Porter. Yvonne gave the roll call all Council Members present. The minutes from May were read. Elton Marshall made a motion to accept the minutes as written. Idella Wright seconded the motion. We voted and accepted the minutes as written.

A resident on NW 9th Place has put up 6 feet poles for a fence in front of his property. The County has stopped him according to our Plan. The Plan states only a four feet fence in front of the property and no wood or chain link. We discussed where the home is located and where the front of the home is. James Ross motioned to support our Plan. Elton Marshall seconded the motion. We voted and it was a unanimous vote to support our Plan. We want Code Enforcement?’s to attend our meetings to help us with violations. Yvonne will contact Code Enforcement regarding violations.

James said he is still having problems with dumping on his jobsites. We are still having a lot of people dumping in our Neighborhood. He has spoke to Don Stone about the in field housing. The County gave the contracts to Lennar Homes and none of the Contractors in Washington Park got any of the contracts. We want Don to come to our meeting and give us more information on the new homes being built in our Neighborhood. Ted Vitale referred some of the street signs that need to be corrected to Streets and Highway. They were damaged by Hurricane Wilma.

Yvonne said she gave the information on a grant to Ivette for landscaping and a wall for the Sixth Street project. She sent the letter to Leighton Elliott. His response back to us was the same. He said they are going to proceed with the plan in October of this year. He hopes the residents will be pleased. James said there is a traffic noise ordinance in Broward County. We need to get a petition and have the residents sign it for a wall on Sixth Street. We just want an eight feet high and eight feet wide wall. It was promised that businesses would be on Sixth Street not just grass and flowers. At our next meeting we will work on the petition for residents to sign for the wall. We will need to attend the County Commissioners meetings. We will contact Planning & Redevelopment (Don Stone, Cynthia Chambers and Ted Vitale) to attend our meetings and help us with this issue.

We need to meet with Leighton Elliott about his plans for Sixth Street.

Julia motioned to adjourn at 8:50pm. Elton seconded the motion. Meeting adjourned at 8:50pm.
