The meeting started at 7:10 PM with prayer by Kenny Habersham. The minutes were approved as written. We welcomed two new members.

Code Enforcement:
Rainelle Moran is our new code enforcer and will take over duties from Natalie. She will handle basic maintenance, beautification projects, and unlicensed contractors. The county is giving away free trees (between 4?” and 6?”) Natalie explained how we can take one plant and grow extra ones from that one. One member had a problem with a large tree on a church property on 7th Court that is backing up her septic system. Natalie explained what she can do. She explained residents will get citations if:
v Pyramid stones are placed on swales. Put a 2?’ tree instead. For free trees call (954) 436-7579 or replantbroward.org.
v Weeds, grass or ground cover exceeds 6?’ in height-cut your grass
v Trash bundled improperly or left out prior to 24 hours prior to pickup
v Swales, sidewalks, and property that is in public right of way
v Pyramid stones, basketball goals, rocks, tire, etc, is prohibited
v Maximum time to correct violation is 10 days and 5 days to correct public right of way and swale clearance.
v If the county corrects the violation you will be assessed the fines and you have 30 days to pay or your property may be liened

Lt Fleming update:
v 2 possible narcotics investigations
v Speed problems: deputies were in the area and claims they didn?’t see any violations, he?’s unable to designate how many traffic tickets we had. He spoke to Linda Laskin regarding roundabouts they are still in the planning stage and many months away.

He checked the tractor trailer and he spoke to the driver who said they were only putting on a decal. The deputies will stay on top of this. Also he?’s working on the convenience store on 9th place. The inmate crew came out and cleaned up the lots that belong to the county. Lt. Fleming suggested we get high schoolers to do weekend clean-ups to get community service hours. He also noticed there are a lot of people fishing in the canal. He notices there are no signs that designate ?“No Fishing.?”

Neighborhood council discussed the issue of churches and their parking lots. Eugene Franklin is home from the hospital recuperating.

Everyone on the list from 1999 for grants to get home repairs need to give their phone number to Ruby Ellington.

We had as a guest Rasheed Baaith who is a BSO Community Involvement specialist. His number is 954-415-1914 and his office is in the Ron Cochran building. He serves as a liaison between BSO and the community. He sees all the crime reports that are generated in our community. Our president suggested to the members to start calling police when they see illegal activities because the police can?’t always be here. Our president also wants the ?“No Vendors?” enforced. Ms. Sumlin will spearhead the clean up committee.

The annexation committee was at the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center. They didn?’t provide any information only answering questions. Ms. Porter asked if our president had spoken to any of the other association presidents. Our president said yes and she shared with us what she heard. We attempted to go over the association by-laws but decided to table it for the next meeting because we?’re waiting for Ms. Sumlin to provide us an updated copy of them. Our president tried to apply for a grant but we couldn?’t because our by-laws are not up to date, then we can apply for a 501-3-C.

Balance as of last meeting $684.33. $405.00 for insurance but it was refunded. $180.00 dues
