The meeting opened at 7:11 and we repeated the Lord?’s prayer. The minutes were read aloud by our President, accepted and seconded.



Lt. Fleming: He introduced Deputy Harry Joseph who is assigned to our area. We had:

v burglary on May 14th

v 2 homes burglarized ?– 1 in the 2800 block of 6th Ct and the other in the 2900 block of 6th CT

v 1 armed robbery in the 2800 block of Washington Dr

v 14 felony arrests ?– no breakdown of the crimes

v 9 misdemeanors

v 4 notices to appear

v 1 drunk driver

v 34 moving traffic tickets

v 1 parking ticket

v 2 truants



There were no infractions on moving food vendors but Deputy Joseph will speak to the peanut man. Ms. Giles asked if any youths were involved in any of these incidents. The residents expressed gratitude for Deputy Joseph?’s presence in the neighborhood lately.



Margo Gillette from Future Leaders of America Gather?’s Inc, was a guest speaker today. Her organization work with kids trying to show them what is really important in life and that they do make a difference. She is promoting a banquet held on Saturday June 18th from 12 pm- 3 pm and there is no cost. She is targeting middle and high school students. Her organization is not for profit. The event is structured and it is Christian based.



We welcomed Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Allen as our 2 new residents.



Joy from code enforcement advised us a few residents have been cited for landscaping violations. Kenny Habersham advised us there was a sewage backup from an apartment building on 7th street and he was urged to call and report it immediately. Ivette said residents are not permitted to make hedges out of ficus trees. Residents are asking why people on the list from 1999 are not getting the funds that they were promised. Susan Smith said this money has been allotted to us but that the other organization associated with our neighborhood is holding the money.



Ivette called the city regarding Mr. Alan?’s sidewalk. If the city or anyone else damages our sidewalk our President wants to know. She also spoke with Linda from traffic. The reason we didn?’t get our speed bumps or roundabouts is because we did not get a 67% majority on each street to sign the petition. There was an incorrect ad in Sunday?’s paper regarding our meeting time. Our by-laws are completed and anyone interested in getting a copy need to let our President know.



Yvonne checked on the plumbing problem with one of the new houses. Bulk trash can only be put out 24 hours in advance. Do not put out pesticides, paint, paint thinner, pool supplies, bug spray, tires, or automotive fluids. The most common violations are:

v structure of houses, peeling paint, and rotting wood

v not enough trees and shrubbery

v too much junk in yards

v construction without permits

v can not install a 12 x 10 shed

v illegal auto repair

v no commercial equipment on property

v illegal conversions of house



Senior citizens can get an additional exemption for $25,000. You have to be 65 years of age to qualify. Your income can not exceed $22,000 per year.



Mrs. Giles came up with a survey information package to gather information on our residents for disaster purposes and future references.
