Mrs Kemp led us in prayer to open our meeting.

Lt Fleming gave the crime report, three burglaries 1-auto theft, a grand theft of a generator and an attempted grand theft of an A/C unit. He also gave the road patrol zone report.

Deputy Murphy said search warrants were served and they confiscated rocks and money. He said the inmates will be our to help with our neighborhood cleanup on November 16, 2002.

It was questioned when the bridge is locked. It is normally open the hours that the park is open. However the bridge has been left open after hours. Lt. Fleming said he thinks the bridge should be closed when the park is closed. When they are trying to catch a person they will not have easy access to the other side to escape. A resident asked if we could have a car to show the speed people are traveling. Mrs. Jiles asked that we have signs to say children at play. Deputy Murphy said he would speak to Quality Transportation about the buses coming into the neighborhood.

Jim Barton said the street stripping should be starting soon. The final inspection by the County will be done by the end of the month. Completion of all work should be done by the end of December. Eugene asked that he address the problems in front of residents home before vacant lots. Fencing has not been completed. Mrs. Sessions is still having a problem with her fence and she has been to the construction trailer. Mr Hughes said the wire to his light has still not been repaired. Mrs. Cross is also having problems with her fence. Ivette Spence Brown said a tree was removed that was not in the right away and it still has not been replaced. Mrs. Kemp said no one has come to fix her driveway. Jim said he would be out with the County to check on Mrs. Kemp driveway on Monday.

Pat Sabia said they are working on junk vehicles and vacant lots with cars. They have free paint available. They have had complaints on chickens and sent out a person with a net to catch the chickens. It was questioned if chickens can carry West Nile Virus. Reply was that mosquitoes carry the Virus, but it is possible a chicken can be bitten by mosquitoes. He said that they are working on trying to get land for the neighborhood to use.

Scott with Code Enforcement said he is ticketing cars with expired tags parked on the roadway.

Eugene said the neighborhood cleanup would start at 9AM and end at 12PM. He said the Annexation Adhoc committee voted to not send a bill to Tallahassee this year. The cities want millions of dollars a year to annex us. The City of Fort Lauderdale wants six million dollars more a year to annex us. Lauderdale Lakes wants five million. He is looking at options to form our own city from other areas that have done that, for example one in Broward County, one in Orlando and one in Pittsburgh.. If we go into a city our way of living will change. If we do form our own city we would have to look at all the services we need and if they have to be contracted out. There will be special meetings on annexation at Dillard, Parkway and the African American Library. There are only seven neighborhoods left in the County to be annexed. There will be an Adhoc Meeting on November 25, 2002 at 7PM in room 422 at the Broward Governmental Center. Yvonne said we need to know what we are paying in taxes as a neighbor now and not what a survey said from three years ago. Ivette said Station 14 fire station is going to be manned with overtime people and not permanent people.

Mrs Jiles spoke about the African American Library, we own it and need to use it and encourage our children and other people to use it. It is one of the best research Libraries in the nation. Sixteen hundred people were there on Monday.

For the Christmas party the Association will provide the meats and each resident is asked to bring a covered dish to share.

The City of Fort Lauderdale wants to partner with schools to help children pass their grade. Dillard also needs people to help students with reading. You can call Yvonne Green the guidance counselor.

Mrs. Jiles motioned to have four or five people as advisors to the Neighborhood Enhancement and Preservation Council. It was seconded by Mrs. Lowe. It was voted on and passed. The members are Mrs. Ivette Spence Brown, Mrs. Davis, Mr Hughes, Mr. Jiles, Mrs. Jiles, Mr Davis and Mrs. Lowe. The next meeting for the council will be in January 2003.

Mrs. Kemp said she has called Flooker twice and still no work has been done. Eugene said he will call him.

Mrs. Idella Wright said total dues collected tonight was $84.00.
