Neighborhood Enhancement Council Meeting Minutes

Feburary 2003 Council Meeting

NEIGHBORHOOD ENHANCEMENT AND PRESERVATION
Council Meeting

February 13, 2003

We opened our meeting at 7PM.

Eugene said that Homes Inc has three of the seven homes in for a building permit. She was supposed to attend our meeting with a copy of the plan for the houses. She had another engagement and will not be attending. Eugene has met with the Urban League about the size of the homes. They questioned who would pay for the additional square footage. They also wanted to no if Mr. Franklin would support asking the County or State for additional funding for the extra square footage. They are short about 70 feet from 1400. Homes Inc will received over $400,000 and the Urban League will received over $500, 000 in funding. One developer Jerry Carter has received close to $50,000 per home in grants. It was questioned why Kathy Barry said that non-profit organizations don’t make any money! The money is used for salaries and services for the building and purchasing of the home. The for profit houses are all 1400 square feet and over. The only thing they questioned was the sprinkler system.

After this month we will receive a copy of the plans for new houses before our monthly meeting. We will receive five copies of the plans. Eugene read the Strategies to Implement and Evaluate the Plan from our Enhancement and Preservation Plan. He said these things are being put into place to help bring up the value of our homes. When we invest in our homes it will add value to our home!

Meeting adjourned at 7:30PM
