Hubbell Elementary School has earned the prestigious Parent Involvement Schools of Excellence Certification from the National PTA. The achievement recognizes outstanding parental involvement practices, according to the National PTA?’s National Standards for Parent/Family Involvement. The certification was announced in January 2005.
Hubbell is the only elementary school in the Des Moines Public Schools to have earned this recognition and one of only four in the state of Iowa.
Former Hubbell PTA president, Kathy Roat, current PTA president, Charlotte Lee, and a committee of administrators, teachers and parents were instrumental in assembling the materials required to document the PTA activities for the rigorous certification process.
The Parent Teacher Association at Hubbell is more than 80 years old, and actively supports both the students and staff of the school through a wide variety of activities, including the annual Fun Night, Reflections fine arts competition, Spelling Challenge, field trips, free books to each student twice per year, Write Night and more.
