Hello Westhaven Commons Homeowners,
Some of you have received fliers from the health department stating you live within a 1/4 mile area of a positive test site for West Nile Virus. Apparently, the health department does random test sites throughout the county each summer for West Nile Virus. A test site within 1/4 mile of Westhaven
Commons has tested positive for the virus. The health department will be out either tonight or tomorrow night to spray the area. The gentleman I spoke with reassured me that this is nothing to panic about. It is nothing different since 2001 when the virus was first discovered to be in Marion County. He did recommend that if you have anything outside that has standing water in it, please remove the water and clean up the area. He also recommended that if you are going to be outside, to use insect repellent. If you have any other specific questions, please call the Marion County Health department at 317-327-4622.
