Westland Meadows Homeowner Association

Commercial Development Devonshire

Posted in: Hickory Hills

The next meeting regarding this issue is July 14 (check City of Mt.Juliet website to make sure).  The commission meets every 2nd and 4th Monday of every month.  Public time is before the meeting so get there around 6:15pm.

The planning commission has already approved the rezoning but now we must fight for it to be rezoned to OPS (basically means it can only be office space, i.e. doctors)  This would limit what could be put there and limit the amount of "tearing down" they would do hopefully.  But what we can do also is bargain with the developer and ask him to donate some of that land to the homeowners and build us a new playground, have greenspace to play, etc.  The development may be inevitable but we can also have limited destruction and get something out of it if we fight a little and bargain a lot.

Everyone that goes to this website should know that HH has a new webpage they are starting.....it's hickoryhillsliving.com.  It should be better and easier to use.  And this webpage may be taken away so just fyi.

Just wanted everyone to know that this website will not be taken down.  Checked with the administrators.  Between the two we should be able to get more information, as there is no information posted about this on the other website and no discussion board has been activated yet.

...a couple of questions....can someone please tell me who is the president of the HOA for HH?...and if the board has already approved the re-zoning, what makes you think that the developer will take into account any requests from the HOA re: a playground or "green area"?...I contacted Sellers via email prior to the initial hearings, expressed my opposition to the re-zoning/development of the Devonshire Entrance, and his reply to me seemed to indicated that he would not oppose it, simply request that it be Class A office space instead of retail...what's the difference as far as the destuction of the environment is concerned? Will they leave the trees if it's office space, and destroy them if it's retail? Not likely.

Dorinda Walentarski is the president of the board.  The board met indeoendently with the developers and asked that it be classified as office space.  The destruction to the environment would be essentially the same, but the peak traffice hours would be condensed.
