at Vegas Verdes Elementary School
4000 El Parque Ave
Topics:
- $ Updates
- $ Historic Designation
- $ Future Meeting/Community Events
Agenda
- $ Welcome and Introductions. Present were Robin from Lois Tarkanian's Office, Franklin Simpson, the Board President, Secretary and 16 attendees.
- $ Updates:
(1) "Slurry" per Chris Finberg, done in October 2007 was reinspected Oct 2008 and was deemed to be in good condition, met compliance and was performing as anticipated. A follow-up email will be sent to Chris for clarification to determine if the tread patterns documented by photos are a part of the anticipated performance, etc.
(2) "Traffic Engineer" will be raising the speed humps on Cashman to be in compliance. The "NO Right Turn" sign for Paratore off Charleston was corrected. The traffic study done in the Westleigh neighborhood did not meet their criteria for any traffic controls. We would need to petition Lois' Office for another study, however, it would require all neighbors to be in agreement. (Note: this may be prudent once the Valley View widening project is completed as this will change the traffic pattern dynamics).
(3) Ward 1 Clean-up was a success on Friday, October 24th. The neighbors were all real pleased with the process. One comment was that the mailer stated to put the trash on the curb rather than with the regular trash pick-up.
- $ The next meeting will be the December "Porch". Franklin to schedule it for December 6th. I acquired a small BBQ and John Salas said he had the propane tanks.
Other Business:
- $ Recapped the overview of the RTC "Valley View Widening" Project and pictures from Sahara to Charleston. In summary, no properties are to be taken. Valley View will be 5 lanes wide, 3 North and 2 South with a landscaped median. No turning south out of Mt. View which would land-lock Westleigh. Emailed Mary Polidoro, Public Info Coordinator of the RTC with our concern and the photo in question.
- $ The painted white strip at the new stop signs are too far back to safely see incoming traffic; attendee had a sign removed but the debris was left; it was noted one can't park within 30 feet of a stop sign.
- $ The Historic Designation contract with Diana Painter was finalized and to start soon.
