Agenda
- $ Welcome and Introductions. Present were Franklin Simpson, Courtney Mooney, Diana Painter, John Paul - VP, Dana -Secretary and 15 attendees.
- $ Diana Painter of "Painter Preservation and Planning" from Petaluma, CA started the Historic survey 4 days ago and all homes are photographed. She now needs to review data, criteria (50%+ integrity) and their weight. Integrity is pattern, architecture, age and style of home that has remained since built; significance (historic, people, design, age) and contributing factors [ex.if a home is so modified (2-story) as to not resemble the original,it is not considered nor are the homes on either side since the visual effects have changed]. In her assessment, she needs to weigh why are these home significant, have the maintained their original integrity, how are they related to local history and do the meet local specs at 50% or more. Once she has had the time to assess her data, she'll get with Courtney for review and discussion. Courtney to be back in March for the Historic Survey status check and the next step. Courtney was "Employee of the Month" in December. She passed around two marketing flyers Courtney found when the homes went up for sale. Courtney to get me copies so I can make them for everyone by Feb.'s meeting.
- $ Dana signed up to attend the Neighborhood Grant fund workshop this Saturday to get the forms and information. With the Valley View widening it would not be prudent to spend Grant money along Valley View. Either along Oakey, or a rock with our name on the corner (Franklin to get a contact) or as Nick suggested a bulletin board (like that idea).
- $ Franklin to check on Republic Services availability in Feb to talk about their pilot recycling project which involves two different colored garbage cans - one for recycling and the other for trash (the way of California).
Other Business:
- $ Need to define "sound wall" to be prepared when signatures of homeowners along the West side of Melville are gathered since not all along Melville liked that idea of putting up one behind their property as Valley View widens. Lois proposes widening the side-walk.
- $ Received an email from Jerry Walker regarding the slurry. Gave the group the run-down: slurry done every 7yrs as a preventative, it will get soft in hot weather and should cure as it ages, and Westleigh met their standards.
- $ It was suggested to ask Lois for a meeting to resolve issues with Public Works (asphalt), Enforcement (parking distance from stop signs) - do we go the way of the "residential parking permit"?- Traffic Engineer for newest study done on Ashby/Mt View/ Melville as we are getting the run-around. Plus inquire about the Handicap curb-cuts that were not completed? Where did the money go? And how to reduce cut-out costs for neighbors who need them since alley access to their parking has closed over the last 50 years.
- $ Nick and his parents cleaned up the alleys on Jan 19th -"Service Day".
