Agenda/Topics

1)         Welcome and Introductions:  in attendance where Lois Tarkanian, Ward 1 Councilwoman; Anne Kilponen, Neighborhood     Planner; Shawn Spanier, President ;  Dan Connell, Vice President;  Dana Russell, Secretary and 8 neighbors

2)         Councilwoman Lois Tarkanian:  Lois spent the entire evening with us providing updates and answering questions. 

                        She was asked about us being boxed in for so long.  The entire infrastructure, sewer needs to be replaced, with the      widening of sidewalks to make us apart of a walk able community to include more bus stops. Our section of Valley View to be       completed by the third week of December with a final end date in February for the Corridor.  Pubic Works' Jorge Cervantes             (sp?) is responsible for the contractors working the project.

                        It was asked why plants in the median with a water shortage?  Plants are drought tolerant and do bring a certain quality        to the area.   

                        Her office is to meet with Metro's Bolden Area Command to talk about crime in the area and police response.  The Doctor's Office at 2909 W. Charleston was denied an expansion by the Planning Commission. The Medical Examiners           Board is also reviewing his license.

                        Ward 1 Redevelopment focus is the "Medical District" along Shadow Lane and Charleston; and the businesses along             the Charleston Blvd Corridor to stimulate new business and to offer incentives to existing businesses.

                        There will be a New Ordinance starting in January that will prohibit Smoking in Parks.

3)         Election of New Board Members: Joe Genovese on Douglas stepped forward and will replace Dan Connell as Vice           President.  Shawn Spanier will remain President and Dana Russell will remain Secretary.

4)         Public Comments

(This period is open to resident comments on neighborhood issues or concerns.  Out of respect to all participants, please limit comments to no more than 5 minutes.  Discussions requiring more time may be extended or can be requested to be addressed at future meetings)

• 2013 Meeting Dates:  February 13th and April 10th
• Street lights seemed dimmer.  The bulbs were replaced with energy efficient one which is not as bright.  There are brighter ones which are to be used instead.
• Bad sidewalks in need of repair at:  1200 Melville and on Barnard, South of Ashby.
