I agree with with you 100% regarding Nancy Blanchett. I wish there were more like her.

You and I have a strong difference of opinion on the involvement of Broomfield citizens in the statewide campaign for the City and County constitutional amendment and on the cuurent state of affairs in Broomfield. The idea for the city and county was originated by Broomfield citizens several years ago as part of the community vision process. Broomfield citizens made the recommendation for a combined city and county to the Broomfield city council. One of the reasons for the citizens'''' recommendation was community unity - one county rather than four.
Broomfield citizens formed a group called Citizens for Better Local Government. Numerous Broomfield citizens in this group worked very hard in the statwide campaign. They did this on their own time and without any compensation whatsoever. For anyone to say there was apathy in Broomfield does not present a fair and accurate representation of Broomfield citizens. At the statewide election, Broomfield voters voted 62% in favor of the constitutional amendment. This means that the majority of Broomfield voters favored the amendment and wanted Broomfield to become a combined city and county. I see what you are doing as working against the will of the Broomfield people and I will vigorously oppose you because of this.
You say you do not engage in personal attacks. I do not understand how you can say this when I look at the many messages you have posted on this page. You called me a "social suck." That is not a personal attack? Take a look at what you have said about Interlocken''''s Jim Long. You don''''t think he would consider what you said as a personal attack? Take a look at the things you have said about members of the Broomfield city council. You don''''t think they would consider the things you have said as personal attacks? You have accused Broomfield city council members of making secret decisions in smoke filled rooms which is not true. You have accused them of laying down for Interlocken which is a lie. You have accused the Council of giving Interlocken funds at the expense of Filing #1 which is another lie. You are not what you say you are. I am going to call you out on all of your lies.
Now, to our differnces of opinion regarding the state of affairs in Broomfield. As I look around Broomfield, I see many more things that I like than I don''''t like. While you have your opinions regarding Interlocken, when I drive through this business park it is, indeed, very impressive. In my opinion, it is the highest quality business park in the entire north metro area, including Boulder. I see a first class mall being built. I''''m impressed and happy to see that Broomfield will finally have a strong sales tax base. I see a beautiful municipal center in a park setting. Pretty darn nice. I see the open space acquisitions being made and I love it. I admit I am an open space advocate. I have to make many trips to DIA. There are no really good routes from Broomfield to DIA. I''''ve used 104th and I''''ve used the highways. I see the Northwest Parkway as providing a very nice parkway route from Broomfield to DIA. Broomfield has an opportunity do something that has not been done in 100 years in Colorado. To have a combined city and county and a form of government that will be at the forefront of the next millenium. I see CVELG for petty reasons trying to interfere with Broomfield''''s efforts.
I look around Broomfield and I say you know what - Broomfield is a great community. This did not just miraculousy happen. It took vision, leadership, and hard work by past and present Broomfield mayors and city council members. I am proud of them. I am proud of Broomfield. And, I will fight for Broomfield.
Have a nice weekend.

4 BBW or Any One

I'm making it my mission this week to understand more about the North West Parkway. I've heard some reasonable arguments in favor of it up here - like to keep the massive future traffic from dumping onto Simms. And yet I know some pretty sharp folks who are opposed to it. It is obvious that the new business park would want - even need it. Regretably, that's about the extent of my knowledge on the topic.

Note: I personally (not representing any group) am very happy about all the new high tech business moving into the area - I just don't want them owning the local poiticians.

One thing I DON'T get is why the highway can't be about where 93 is. Why does it need to be on the East side of Rocky Flats.

"petty" is relative. I can accept that CVELG's efforts or reasons seem petty to you. But I promise they aren't petty to me.

I can see that BF leaders have a vision and are working very hard to achieve that. And maybe that vision is good. But CVELG is VERY concerned about the WAY they're achieve that vision. We feel that the democratic process has been circumvented, that the PEOPLE are being bypassed - not all, of course - but ALL do have a right to effective input.

Some people see our motivation as vindiction. We feel we are doing something we, as inteligent adult citizens, are obligated to do - to defend the rightful process. If we respect our rights, we must defend them. And it does not seem petty to us.
