Like everyone in our area, the drought hit Westside Hunt. For a new community with new yards, trees and bushes it has been particularly difficult.
Our community pond (the start of Bohemia Creek that eventually goes to the Chesapeake Bay)has also been a casualty. With the lack of a good ole fashion gully washer, the pond has a build up of algae covering the surface. We had tests done on the water and fortunately we have sufficient disolved oxygen (DO) for our fish to survive. The pond is low, but hanging in there.
Next Spring we will take action to minimize the algae problem. Barlay Straw may be an economical solution. We will see.
