Late Night Hang-Out in Cambridge

Posted in: Cambridge
On Friday I recieved a call to return to work around 11:30p.m. I left my home at around 12a.m. I turned the corner and could not proceed because of the large number of kids standing in the street. Cars were lined up on the curb like this was a club. I had my window down, as I passed the crowd one of the boys yelled ''UPTOWN''.
My concern or question is for the parents of Cambridge. Who is in charge? I would never allow my children to hang out in front of my home like that. And its always the same couple of houses these kids are at. I spoke to an Officer the same night. He said that they didnt get a single call from anyone in Cambridge about the crowd. I am asking the responsible parents of Cambridge, When you see this;Report it! Call for an area check. The problems are going to continue unless something is done. The cops cant do it all.
Also PLEASE, Make note of this....You can post this on your wall..Take a picture, or I will write it sign it and bring it to your home....I WILL NOT ALLOW YOUR CHILD TO DISRESPECT ME. If you cant nandle him/her at your house then I will do it for you! I promise you, I have yet to see a child that scares me. And I am NOT concerned with what the so-called parents have to say! I would rather help a child than hurt them, but that child has to know his/her role.
Bottomline....Take care of your child at home or your child will be taken care of by the street.
Late Night Hang-Out in Cambridge

I recall very vividly my own teenage years, and just wanting to hang out with my friends. I didn't mean anyone any harm, and probably most of these kids do not either. However, there has to be a limit to what we are willing to accept. These children do not belong in our streets at 11-12 o'clock at night. If they are visiting your child, then you are responsible for them. They either need to be in your living room, or in your back yard or at home in their own bed. They do not need to be disrupting your neighbors sleep or blocking traffic from moving freely through our neighborhood. Article IV Section 8 of your Covenant, which is a binding contract that all of us had to sign when we moved into this subdivsion, states ''No noxious or offensive activity shall be carried on upon any lot nor shall anything be done thereon tending to cause embarrassment, discomfort, annoyance or nuisance to Cambridge Subdivision or any portion of the Property''. If this is not sufficient... then there is the County Ordinace Code, 3-1-1, Hours of Curfew, siting minors and curfew times starting @ 11:00 pm on weeknights, and 12:00 am on weedends, parents will be held responsible. If you see these youngsters out after these hours, then it is your responsibilty to pick up your phone, and call 706-821-1080. Remember to ask for a case number & report this to your block captain. We have to work together to make our neighborhood strong. Blessings to all.... Carla
