Animal Control

Nov 25, 2006

One of the most common complaints heard by the Block Coordinators is that there are so many loose or (incessantly) barking dogs in our neighborhood. Please, for the SAFETY of our neighborhood children, and for the SANITY of all of our residents, please keep your animals leashed and their barking controlled.

If you wish to report a barking or loose animal, please contact the Jefferson County Animal Control at 303-271-5070.

The following information is supplied by the Jefferson County Animal Control division, by way of their website at www.co.jefferson.co.us/

The Jefferson County Animal Control and Licensing Regulation prohibits a dog from disturbing the peace of any other person by loud, habitual and persistent barking, howling, yelping, whining, whether the dog is on or off the dog owner''s premises. Violation of this provision could result in a penalty assessment, which ranges from $30.00 - $300.00 and/or a court appearance. If you have received a complaint about your dog, it is important to correct the problem so that your neighbors do not take legal action, or take their frustrations out on your dog.
