Worshiping cars?

Your logic is a bit off here. I do enjoy driving my car and fully realize that without my car, my life would be much less enjoyable/productive. That does not mean that I'm hoping to see dead pedestrians. I would be interested in some statistics on this issue. How many pedestrians were killed/injured during the past 5 years before the lanes were redone? Was there an abnormal amount of traffic accidents? And how, exactly, will the new lanes make things safer? Is a follow up study being done to track accidents (assuming there was a high incident of accidents taking place before the lanes were redone)? How does redoing the lanes 'preserve' the neighborhood? How were the old lanes destroying Willo? Also, 7th Ave goes up the side of the neighborhood and people drive much faster there than on 5th or 3rd. Using your logic, We should petition to redesign 7th Ave. Please try using reason, not emotion, to address this issue. I'd love a _reasoned_ reply.

Confusing lanes

I have had feedback from several people that these lanes are confusing. If it was just me that the lanes confused, I never would have sent my earlier email.
Some of the people who complained were from Willo (approx 4 people), but most were visitors to my home (approx 10 people). I did not solicit this input, people brought it up on their own. BTW, I don't think you were just sarcastic, I think you were actually rude.

No Rudeness Meant

These lanes are designed to blend pedestrians and automobiles.I have been blessed enough to drive in several major cities including Seattle, Philadelphia, Boston, and San Francisco, as well as have driven in several countries. These markings are extremely simple in comparison. I have heard no negative comments about these lanes from anybody who has visited me. No rudeness was meant in my earlier post, I just get concerned when people have difficulty understanding simple road markings.

And how, exactly, will the new lanes make things safer?"...If you were informed on the issues of your neighborhood and read "Inside Willo", you would have known about the cars speeding down 3rd Ave and ending up in the front yards of homes. One home had multiple cars end up in their yard. You ask how the new lanes will make things safer...well. logic tells you that less cars can travel on 2 lanes. You can not compare 7th Ave, which is a major through street, with 3rd and 5th Aves...that is not resonable.

I prefer to live in a neighborhood that does not have a "major" traffic speeding through. If less traffic is speeding through the Willo then the quality of live will become better...unless you enjoy breathing exhaust through your front window. This is not a "emotional" reply..it is a reply from someone who cares about where they live and the quality of life the neighborhood offers it's residents.
