September 2008 Newletter

Sep 02, 2008

I know you just received the Newsletter a couple of weeks ago, but there is so much going on. There will be another one coming out in a couple of more weeks for October. Then after that it will only be once a month. Just a reminder, if you want to post anything please have it in to me by the 10th of the month. My email is cwoodsmiller@yahoo.com Thanks, Cathy

To recap our meeting on 8/28 for those of you that couldn?’t make it. We talked about making sure that your doors are sturdy and have good heavy duty locks and dead bolts. Make sure your windows have key locks instead of hand turned locks so no one can break the window and unlock them. For your sliding glass doors you may want to put a wooden or metal rod between back of the door and the space between it and the wall. That way it will be a lot harder for anyone to open. Also make sure that the doors fit snuggly on their tracks

Other helpful tips are to keep bushes trimmed and don?’t hide your keys on your property. Put your lights on automatic timers and most importantly use flood lights to light up entire property.

ALERT!!!
There has been 2 young adults spotted in a car trying to break into homes. Also, a man walking the neighborhood around 4:00am in the morning. Just be on the look out and notify your phone trees if you spot anything strange. That is what the phone trees are for. Don?’t be scared to use them.

Finally, we talked about when the Homes Owners Association Meeting will be. Kevin Triplett, an outreach spokesperson for the Department of Neighborhoods, has set it up for Thursday 9/18 at 7pm at Hillcrest Baptist Church. There will be a lady from Legal Aide there to help with any questions we might have. Such as should we dissolve the existing Association and start new? Or keep the one we have and make it better for us? Remember this is our Association. We can take a vote or something.
