CRIME REPORT; 08-27-10

    Good morning!!!!  Here are some examples of the calls for the last twenty four hours:   Officer Valentine stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of Grape.  One of the subjects in the vehicle was a 28 year old male who had an outstanding theft warrant.  The subject was also in possession of Hydrocodone without a prescription.  The subject was arrested for the warrant and for Possession of a Controlled Substance.   Officer Adams responded to a disturbance call in the 3500 block of Cedar Run.  The victim stated there was an active protective order prohibiting a 46 year old female from being at the location.  The female had punched a window and suffered an injury requiring transport to a local hospital.  A report was worked for Violation of a Protective Order and the investigation is pending.   Enjoy your weekend but please, don't drink and drive.   For the Abilene Police Department, this is Sgt Keith Shackleford.

CRIME REPORT; 08-30-10

  Good morning!!!!  Here are a couple of examples of the calls from this weekend.   Officer Volirakis responded to a disturbance call in the 3800 block of Patriot.  The victim stated her husband, a 19 year old male, had choked her during an argument.  The victim had red marks and scratches on both sides of her neck.  The husband was arrested for third degree felony Assault/Family Violence.   Officer Brannon responded to a disturbance call in the 1600 block of South 14th.  Citizens reported a vehicle and two occupants, who were shining a laser pointer into the eyes of passing drivers.  Officer Brannon contacted two 19 year old males, one of which still had the laser in his hand.  Both of the subjects were found to be in possession of marijuana and were arrested.   For the Abilene Police Department, this is Sgt Keith Shackleford.

    Good morning!!!!!  Car burglaries continue to be a problem in Abilene.  Here are a couple of examples.   Officer Montgomery responded to a vehicle burglary call in the 2700 block of North Judge Ely.  Two vehicles were entered by unknown suspects.  The suspects took various items, including debit cards, cash, and IPODS.  A report was worked for Burglary of a Motor Vehicle.   Officer Craft responded to a vehicle burglary call in the 2100 block of Pine.  An unknown suspect entered the unlocked vehicle and took the victim's portable CD player and multiple medications.  A Burglary of Motor Vehicle report was worked on this case as well.   You can help prevent these crimes.  Don't leave valuables or items that would be attractive to thieves in the passenger compartment of your vehicle.  Lock your doors and windows and take your keys with you.  A little prevention can save you a lot of headaches later.   For the Abilene Police Department, this is Sgt Keith Shackleford.

CRIME REPORT; 09-01-10

    Good morning!!!!!!  Here are a few examples of calls for the last twenty four hours.   Officer Scott responded to a theft call in the 2700 block of North 1st.  As Officer Scott arrived, two male subjects ran from the store and kept running from the location after being told to stop.  One of the subjects had stolen approximately $30 worth of beer.  Both subjects were apprehended shortly after leaving the location.  The 17 year old male was charged with class C misdemeanor Theft and class A misdemeanor Evading Arrest.  The 22 year old male was charged with class A misdemeanor Evading Arrest.   Officer Poynor contacted a suspicious subject in the 2900 block of Pine.  During the investigation, the 48 year old male was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant.  The subject was also found to be in possession of approximately 1 gram of cocaine.  The subject was arrested for the warrant and for state jail felony possession of a controlled substance.   For the Abilene Police Department, this is Sgt Keith Shackleford.
